About Department

Brief history of the Department :

                   This Department was established in 1997.Since its inception, the Department has reflected in its curricular its awareness of the newer trends in this era,Communication, Spoken skills and how to present the skills to the world  of success. In recent years, Cultural and Translation Studies too have come to be a thrust area, inspiring inter-disciplinary and intra-disciplinary insights among faculty and students alike.  

                    The classes are exuberant, intuitive spaces where understudies are urged to share their own discernment's, make seeking inquiries, and take part in talks in an air that cultivates self-articulation offset with deference for the privilege of others to voice their sentiments. This soul is sustained in a changing study hall that has seen a broadening of the understudy base to incorporate understudies from differing financial foundations and expectations to absorb information.

                              Department has been catering to teaching English Language and Literature and promoting interest and creativity in the English language. The vision of the department is to enhance communicative skills of the students for global competency and strengthen their aesthetic sense through language and literature.

                              The department is run by vibrant teachers helping the students to express effectively in English and make them realize that the lessons in the texts are also lessons in life to excel in any field they choose. he adequate learning resources in the Departmental Library and the Language Laboratory strengthen teaching and learning and expand the horizon of knowledge.

English Department Vision Statement

  • To provide appropriate pedagogies – including class size – and environments (classrooms, equipment, resources, and technology) that will lead o student retention and success as well as an increase in the number of majors and minors.

  • To help students see themselves as professionals, as part of a discipline with skills and abilities valuable in the business, teaching, publishing, or post-graduate work.

  • To give students a sense of themselves as citizens of a larger community by encouraging participation in service learning and in diverse and international course work and programming.

  • To assure that students encounter creativity crucial to English studies through theater productions, readings by professional writers, and their own creative and critical production and presentation.

  • To balance the needs of general education – communication, diversity, global perspectives, interdisciplinary studies – with those of the major.

  • To acquire adequate funding to support the department’s contributions to general education and the liberal arts through departmental budgets and hiring

  • Conveys knowledge of literary history, literary forms, literary theory, and a wide variety of texts and a wide array of vocabularies and practices used to consider them.

  • Gives students an understanding of an an appreciation for the English language.

  • Provides students with sophisticated writing and critical thinking skills useful not only in the academy but also in the world at large.
